Student Media Specialist

The Office of Student Affairs is seeking a student to contribute to the redesign and the creation of new content for the Welcome Weekend module within the ND Mobile app and to design content for the Welcome Weekend social media platforms. The student media specialist will report directly to the Program Director for New Student Engagement.

Development of the Welcome Weekend module includes the production of digital graphics,creation of the user flow, and gathering and organizing information from various campus offices. The app is intended to streamline communication, provide students with an array of resources, and connect users to Notre Dame’s various social media streams. This module has engaged 1,000+ unique users during each of the two years that it has been implemented.

Content for the Welcome Weekend social media platforms seeks to provide new undergraduate students and parents with important information and resources about a student’s first year at Notre Dame. This is also a space to connect with incoming students prior to their arrival to campus. Current social media platforms include Facebook,Instagram and Twitter.

The student media specialist will work between 4-6 hours a week during the 2020-2021 academic year and over the summer preceding the start of the 2021 academic year. Both the new and current student media specialist will meet weekly with the Program Director for New Student Engagement.

This position is technical in nature but requires students to engage with Welcome Weekend as a whole to understand which parts of the experience can be enhanced by the module. Previous experience as a student leader with Welcome Weekend is preferable but not required. The student media specialist will be required to attend some evening training sessions for Welcome Weekend leaders in the spring of 2021. This student media specialist is required to be on campus for Welcome Weekend 2021.
 

Qualifications

Candidates must have proficiency with Word or Google Docs, Excel or Google Sheets, and Google Drive. The ideal candidate would have a working proficiency with Photoshop and Illustrator. Web development and coding skills are not required as training in ModoLabs will be provided.
