Community Service
Federal Work-Study Requirement
Students who have been awarded Federal Work-Study (FWS) in their Financial Aid Offer may obtain positions at our authorized community service agencies. The University partners with community service organizations to allow students to do work that enriches the community while developing important professional skills.
FWS-eligible students who are interested in community service employment opportunities may view Community Service employment options on the JOBboard.

Employers participating in the FWS Program:
- Will provide opportunities for students to engage in meaningful community service.
- Are committed to a long-term relationship with the University of Notre Dame to provide student employment opportunities.
- Understand and are willing to work within the constraints created by the scheduling needs of students.

The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. We believe every girl and boy deserves a safe place to learn and grow, life-enhancing programs, character development experiences, and hope and opportunity for the future.
The Center for the Homeless is the largest residential facility in the South Bend area for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The Center's mission is to break the cycle of homelessness, bring together disparate groups so that each can discover the worth, dignity, and potential of the other, and pioneer a service model worthy of replication.
La Casa de Amistad provides educational, cultural, and family-centered programs that empower Latino and immigrant communities to thrive. From early childhood education, to tutoring and mentoring in k-12 youth development and leadership, to adult education programming and family engagement, La Casa creates a welcoming environment where individuals develop the skills, confidence, and sense of belonging needed to reach their full potential while honoring their cultural heritage.
Robinson Community Learning Center
The Robinson Community Learning Center welcomes community and Notre Dame partners who strengthen the Northeast Neighborhood of South Bend through relationship-building and educational opportunities. By promoting innovation and excellence, the center builds individual capacity and enhances existing systems throughout South Bend.
St. Margaret's House improves the lives of women and children by providing individual attention to their immediate needs, breaking the bonds of isolation, and helping them acquire skills to better their lives. They believe that each woman is talented and gifted and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
The Head Start Program is a federally funded school readiness program that offers cognitive, social, and emotional development skills to children up to five years old. Head Start provides services to low-income families located in Elkhart and St. Joseph County schools, including Baugo, Concord, Elkhart, Goshen, John Glenn, Middlebury, Mishawaka, Penn-Harris-Madison, South Bend, Union North, and Wa-Nee, Indiana.
